Handmade Felt & Hemp Goods from Nepal, Shipped from Australia

Namaste Artisans is a Nepal–Australia brand creating handmade felt and hemp goods with natural fibres, fair wages, and women-led workshops in Nepal.

We work with women-led workshops in Nepal to make wool felt and hemp goods by hand: felt cat caves and dog beds, felt Christmas ornaments, felt slippers, coasters and trivets, and hemp shoes. Every order is checked, packed and dispatched from Australia, so you get Nepali craftsmanship with local support.

We sell direct to homes across Australia and to wholesale stockists who want honest, artisan-made products without the factory feel.

Our Mission

  • Make beautiful, everyday products from natural wool and hemp.
  • Provide steady, fair-paid work for Nepalese women artisans.
  • Keep our supply chain transparent, ISO-certified, and ethical.
  • Bring Nepalese craftsmanship into modern homes.

What We Make

  • Wool felt cat caves are made from 100% New Zealand wool and shaped by hand into thick, sturdy walls that hold their form through years of kneading and napping. We also make felt dog beds.
  • Small, handmade felt ornaments designed to be wrapped up each January and brought out again every December.
  • Coasters and trivets, felt balls and garlands, keyrings and felt slippers, made for everyday use.
  • Hemp sneakers and hiking boots made from a breathable natural fibre.

From Kathmandu Valley to the World

Handmade in Nepal, Shared Globally

Through Namaste Artisans, handmade felt and hemp pieces travel from local Nepali workshops to homes and stores globally, carrying real stories, fair wages, and craft you can feel in your hands.

Growing up in the Kathmandu Valley, Subash Lamsal and Pankaj Bhandari were surrounded by the rich tapestry of Nepali craftsmanship. They watched local artisans pour skill and patience into every piece work shaped by generations of practice, quiet pride and tradition. Each handcrafted item carried a story, but those stories rarely travelled beyond their own streets.

As they got older, Subash and Pankaj saw the gap more clearly: incredibly talented makers, limited reach. Their work was good enough for the world, but the world barely knew it existed. That realisation became the starting point for Namaste Artisans—a way to share Nepal’s craft with a wider audience while keeping the making process firmly rooted at home.

What began with a few artisan families in Kathmandu has grown into partnerships with dozens of craftspeople across Nepal. Together, they focus on fair wages, sustainable practices and consistent quality, so every piece can stand on its own anywhere in the world.

Every product you find at Namaste Artisans carries a little of Nepal with it—the warmth of its people, the strength of its traditions, and a shared hope for a brighter, more secure future for artisan communities.

Felt & Hemp, Our Core Materials

Discover the natural materials that make our products unique and sustainable

Felt

Our felt is made from New Zealand wool, felted with soap and water and kept to minimal processing. Wool felt is durable, warm and biodegradable, which makes it a natural alternative to synthetic pet beds and plastic decorations.

Hemp

Hemp is a fast-growing crop that typically needs little water and few pesticides. It makes strong, breathable footwear that is naturally resistant to odour-causing bacteria. Care matters, so see our guide to cleaning hemp shoes properly.

From Our Workshops to You

Every Namaste Artisans piece starts as a simple idea we develop with our partner workshops in Nepal, testing shapes, colours and materials until they feel right in real homes. Once the design is locked, each item is made in small batches—shaped, stitched, felted and finished by hand. When it's ready, your order is checked, packed and shipped from Australia, so you get Nepal-made craftsmanship with local support and clear, reliable delivery.
